About

Based in London and the South West, Emily is a text practitioner at Shakespeare’s Globe, and a multi-award-wininng writer and director.

CURRENT

She is a freelance Shakespeare and Acting coach, based at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Emily is currently working with production company Blue Horizons to adapt her award-winning play, Bobby & Amy into a screenplay.

Emily is currently part of the Criterion new writing programme in London’s West End.

SHAKESPEARE PRACTITIONER

Trained and mentored by Giles Block (Head of Text at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre), her productions for Shakespeare’s Globe include The Tempest (Dir. Jeremy Herrin); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Dir. Dominic Dromgoole); and King Lear (Dir. Bill Buckhurst). She was text coach for the National Youth Theatre company. Productions as text and voice coach include Romeo and Juliet for the Ambassadors Theatre (Dir. Katy Hewitt); The Tempest for Royal & Derngate (Dir. Caroline Steinbeis). She has also worked as a Shakespeare coach for ITV’s ‘Summer of Soaps’ ad campaign starring actors from Emmerdale and Coronation Street. She was head of the Poel Event for 4 years providing Shakespeare training for professional actors at the National Theatre.

DIRECTOR

Emily trained as a director at Mountview Academy of Theatre arts before continuing her training working as an Assistant Director on several main house commercial tours.  She has worked extensively with both Shakespeare and new writing. She has won two Fringe First Awards for plays she both wrote and directed (Bobby & Amy; Rainbow) and was Awarded Show of the Week at Vaults Festival 2019 for Bobby & Amy, and she been nominated for Off West End Award for Best Director (Mojo Mickybo).

WRITER - Theatre and Screen

As a writer Emily has twice won the Fringe First for her plays Rainbow and Bobby & Amy. She has since worked with Paines Plough, the Traverse Theatre and attended the Royal Court Young Writer’s and Studio writers programmes.

Her play COOKIES produced at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End directed by Olivier nominated director Anna Ledwich. The play is also available to stream as a film http://masterclass.org.uk/view/cookies-the-film.

 Writing credits include: Bobby and Amy, Pleasance Courtyard (FRINGE FIRST AWARD and EDINBURGH SOLD OUT SHOW) and Vault Festival 2019 (SHOW OF THE WEEK); COOKIES, Theatre Royal Haymarket; Dark Matter, Paines Plough Come to Where I’m from; BED Traverse Theatre (short); Rainbow, Zoo Southside (FRINGE FIRST AWARD).

She is currently writing BEDLAM an immersive Virtual reality experience conceived by Mat Collishaw that has been selected to premiere at the the Venice VR Expanded Competition, at the 78th Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica.
